Spanish ONA EDM Technology in Türkiye with GNC Makina

ONA, Spain’s strongest brand in EDM technologies, will add strength to manufacturers with its innovation capability, offering flexible, customer-specific solutions and advanced EDM machining systems tailored to users’ unique needs.

Through customized engineering, automation solutions, and turnkey projects, ONA also designs machines according to manufacturers’ specific requirements. By producing machines based on requested dimensions and applications, ONA creates fully tailored solutions for its customers. This capability aligns perfectly with the working philosophy of GNC Makina.

The initial meetings between GNC Makina and ONA took place at the MAKTEK Fair held at TÜYAP in October 2022. Following the fair, both in Türkiye and Spain, the parties came together and formalized their partnership decision in December 2022.

The company’s work, vision, and the brands it represents attracted significant attention from ONA. This initial contact developed further over time. In a later stage, senior ONA executives visited the GNC Makina office, gaining a closer understanding of the company and its operations. Subsequently, GNC Makina was invited to Spain, where they visited ONA’s manufacturing facilities and machines.

ONA is a globally significant company in EDM technologies, and throughout this process, multiple meetings were held. The company operates in a market that is also highly needed in Türkiye. As GNC Makina, the aim was to expand operations and serve this critical sector through the partnership with ONA.

The final decision for cooperation was made in December, and the partnership was officially signed.

Through ONA, services will also be provided to various sectors in Türkiye where there is strong demand. ONA EDM machines are mainly categorized into wire EDM, sinker EDM, and EDM drilling machines. In Türkiye, these machines are commonly used in mold manufacturing, plastic molding, and special part production.

However, with ONA’s high technology and expertise, these machines can also be utilized in aerospace and defense industries, optical manufacturing, electronic processor mold production through micro-machining capabilities, and medical manufacturing sectors with solutions supporting up to 8-axis machining.

Regarding the features of these machines, as we mentioned before, you can produce parts at a micro level with these machines. Since these technologies, which we call electro-erosion technologies, are not available in our country, the production of very small and precise parts is not possible. We are offering a new opportunity for production in this field in our country. We can say that it is an innovation that will create added value for our economy and domestic producers. Unlike other machines, these machines are also smaller in size. ONA machines, which allow you to save space, can also be designed in the form and quality desired by the manufacturer. In other words, it allows us to offer automation solutions and turnkey solutions in line with personalized studies. With these machines, parts needed in fields such as aviation, defense, medical, electronics, automotive, and machine manufacturing are produced.It is necessary to mention the place of the EDM process, especially in the aviation field. This process had difficulty replacing the traditional machining process for many years in terms of speed and quality.

However, with ONA and new technological developments, the increases in speed and surface quality we have experienced have enabled it to gain a solid place, especially in the aviation sector. Thanks to the flexible processing methods it created, it helped to improve quality. On the other hand, having processing methods that high-speed machining centers in the metalworking sector cannot adequately utilize, and not needing special tool manufacturing, has led to a decrease in costs. The machinability of very hard materials, high-quality outputs, extreme suitability for automation, and software supporting Industry 4.0 are the values ​​that the ONA brand has brought to this sector. From this perspective, we know that its market share will increase as our country's technology develops. We will continue to support the manufacturers in this field in our country with our experience.<br><br>We plan to provide training on ONA technology and the use of these machines in our country. From the moment ONA decided to work with GNC, its first request in this regard was the creation of a structure to provide sufficient and advanced training to users in our country. One of the greatest values ​​that GNC Makina has added to our country's metalworking sector is GNC ACADEMY.

Our company, with its expert team of engineers and trainers, has established a standard for training its existing customers across its other brands at GNC ACADEMY, and has also launched beginner and advanced user training for its new brand, ONA. Furthermore, it has initiated applications that will meet customer training and testing requests through demo benches located in its showrooms. Currently, our trainer team, comprised of experts in the EDM field, is setting standards for training documents and levels, and these efforts will soon begin providing support to users.
